U2 – Ordinary Love

As you are already aware the world lost a great man this week – Nelson Mandela.  Coincidently Mandela passed away on the same day that the biographic movie Mandela – Long Walk to Freedom premiered.  If you are my age you will remember Artists Against Apartheid who helped raise our knowledge of the struggles in South Africa.  Written and organized by Stevie Van Zandt the song Sun City was a protest song against Apartheid.  When released the song was banned in South Africa.  Bono of U2 sang in the song and also wrote the song Silver and Gold for the Sun City album.

U2 wrote a new song for the movie (Mandela – Long Walk to Freedom).  The song is called “Ordinary Love” and it is the song of the week.

“For to be free is not merely to cast off one’s chains, but to live in a way that respects and enhances the freedom of others.” Nelson Mandela.
